#BITDEFENDER TOTAL SECURITY 2015 NOT FOR RESALE SOFTWARE#In the old days, Astaro (Sophos, now) provided (free) software for a centralized unified security appliance, if you’ve got a small computer with two NICs. I’m interested in reviews of the new version, and in comparisons against similar devices which are now hitting the market. (Since NirSoft is all portable, I’m just going to move it all to a thumb drive when I get the time.) Another item to consider is the BitDefender Box, a security appliance now in its second iteration. The reason for the latter is that numerous standard security softwares (such as many by NirSoft) are considered by BD malware or Potentially Unwanted Programs, thus warning me at all times that my computer is INFECTED! (Be afraid – be very afraid!) However, I would imagine that programs such as these would be known by attackers to be frequently whitelisted, and thus preferentially targeted for hijacking. The second improvement would be to easily enable whitelisting by not merely software name, but of name and file location, and checksum or possibly date and size. One is to provide a PAUSE feature with the tray icon, to easily pause both scanning and downloading of BD updates when I log on, these activities often take much longer at 100% disk usage than I want to wait for a quick check of email, etc. I have made two suggestions to Bitdefender in particular (and am not certain whether they have implemented them or have plans). I have tried free programs, such as Avira, but found them too intrusive. Although I don’t find it worthwhile to switch A-V providers for six-month free use trials, the product is usually available for several devices for under thirty dollars a year total I can live with that. I use Bitdefender for my several home computers and have been generally satisfied with it moreover, they have technical support which is actually awake and generally responsive. Give it a few weeks to settle down and I think you’ll agree. I’m happy I switched to BitDefender and think others will like it. Overall it seems a good step up from Avast!, which I used (and paid) for several years. Their support team has generally been ok, if a bit slow to respond. #BITDEFENDER TOTAL SECURITY 2015 NOT FOR RESALE INSTALL#I’m careful with the software I install and websites I visit, but Bitdefender makes me feel safer. #BITDEFENDER TOTAL SECURITY 2015 NOT FOR RESALE PC#Program doesn’t slow my PC down except at startup, so I turn everything on and do something else for a few minutes. I haven’t had any malware issues, although two different programs from Game Giveaway of the Day were blocked. ![]() My version is call BitDefender Internet Security, and it seems to have all the features on offer here. #BITDEFENDER TOTAL SECURITY 2015 NOT FOR RESALE UPDATE#I suspected a BitDefender update was the culprit, and after the next update all the problems went away. For about a week I had trouble running many of my programs. #BITDEFENDER TOTAL SECURITY 2015 NOT FOR RESALE HOW TO#I figured out how to disable that, although I might check it out someday. I found the SafePay program annoying, it pops up on all kinds of websites and wants me to use a BitDefender safe browser to complete my transactions. I quickly learned how to get files back from quarantine and whitelist them. It kept deleting several of my music applications, especially the ones I paid for. ![]() which breaks down into 100 percent protection against prevalent malware and 96 percent against zero-day attacks.BitDefender and I got off to a rocky start. Under Protection, which tests its ability to detect widespread and zero-day malware, it scored 5.0/6.0. (See also:Ģ015’s best antivirus for PC and laptop UK.) G-Data Internet Security 2015 review: antivirus performance It slowed the system down by 3s overall, which was a second less than the average for the test group. AV-Test scored the software at 4.5/6.0 in its Performance category, which looks at the influence of the software on performing regular tasks. The load put on a typical system by scanning under G Data is light, with just a 20 per cent increase in the file copy time in our test. ![]() Repeating the test examined the same number of files, but this time in just 53s. It took 50 minutes 23 seconds to scan our 50GB file basket, but only examined 8,753 files, giving a scan rate of just 2.90 files/s, one of the lowest we’ve measured. G-Data Internet Security 2015 review: system performanceĭespite CloseGap, the performance of the G Data scanner was quite poor on our tests. Much of the setup is automatic, though, and it can be installed as a load and forget application. The interface is very straightforward and easy to use, with five large icons at the top of its control window, each of which leads to a pane with setting and status information.
